ANZAC BISCUITS<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The wonderful classic Australian biscuit which keeps so well they were packed in tins and sent to our troupes on The Eastern Front to lift their spirits. There are many recipes but this is mine and my Nanna\u2019s before me. She made these for her beloved wrapping them in brown paper and a tin then posted them to Egypt where he was in the Light Horse. His letters tell her how much these delightful biscuits meant to him and how popular he was when he shared them with his mates. Give them a try because they are quick to make, fool proof for kids cooking, just delicious and, as I said they keep really well.<\/h3>\n

RECIPE for ANZACS<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/h3>\n

Heat fan forced oven to 160 degrees . They need a moderately slow oven.<\/h3>\n

INGREDIENTS<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. \n

    \u00a0cup of rolled oats<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    \u00bd cup SR flour<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n

    \u00bd cup plain flour<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n

    \u00be cup dessicated coconut<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n

    3\/4 cup of sugar<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n

    1\/2\/teaspoon of Bio Carb soda<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n

    2 tablespoons boiling water<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  8. \n

    125g butter ( or margarine), melted<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  9. \n

    2 tablespoons golden syrup<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    METHOD<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl. Mix the wet together. Now pour wet into the dry ingredients and stir till well mixed. Roll into balls ( big or small) and squish down flat on a tray covered with baking paper. Remember they spread so leave room. \u00a0Cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Leave them to sit on the tray for 5 minutes because they are still soft. Now lift them with an egg slice onto a wire rack and leave to cool and harden. Yum!<\/h3>\n

      The mixture can also be pressed into a flat tin and then cut quickly into squares before they cool and harden.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
